چکیده

Rapid progress in experimental methodology has made it possible to generate and study highly reactive organometallic fragments in the gas phase. While experimental investigations have focused mainly on the reactivity and thermochemical stability of such species [l-7], parallel developments in ab initio theory have provided descriptions of the molecular and electronic structures of these molecules [8-: lo]. Transition metal carbenes, species which contain a divalent carbon bonded to a transition metal center, are an example of reactive organometallic fragments which have been the subject of both experimental and theoretical investigations. Ion beam [l-3] and ion cyclotron resonance [4-71 techniques have recently been used to investigate the energetics and reactions of both the coordinately saturated and “bare” transition metal carbenes. In the latter category it has been observed [ 1,4] that the chromium carbene ion, CrCg, can be generated by reaction of electronically excited Cr+ with methane:

INVESTIGATING SELECTIVE REMOVAL OF Cr(VI) AND Zinc IONS FROM AQUEOUS MEDIA BY MECHANICAL-CHEMICAL ACTIVATED RED MUD

In this study, the adsorption of hexavalent chromium and zinc ions from the solution is investigated by raw red mud and mechanical-chemical activated red mud along with the possibility of selective reclamation of these ions from the solution. The mechanical-chemical activation of red mud was done by employing high-energy milling and subsequent acid treatment with HNO3. Raw red mud (RRM) and mec...

Ordered binary oxide films of V2O3„0001... on Al2O3

Ordered binary oxide films of vanadium oxide have been prepared on an aluminum oxide film supported on Mo~110! under ultrahigh vacuum conditions and characterized by various surface analytical techniques. Auger electron spectroscopy, low energy electron diffraction, high-resolution electron loss spectroscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ion scattering spectroscopy indicate that the van...

Electronic and vibrational spectroscopy of intermediates in methane-to-methanol conversion by CoO+.

At room temperature, cobalt oxide cations directly convert methane to methanol with high selectivity but very low efficiency. Two potential intermediates of this reaction, the [HO-Co-CH(3)](+) insertion intermediate and [H(2)O-Co=CH(2)](+) aquo-carbene complex are produced in a laser ablation source and characterized by electronic and vibrational spectroscopy. Reaction of laser-ablated cobalt c...

Electronic structure of charge- and spin-controlled Sr(1-(x+y))La(x+y)Ti(1-x)Cr(x)O3.

We present the electronic structure of Sr(1-(x+y))La(x+y)Ti(1-x)Cr(x)O3 investigated by high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy. In the vicinity of the Fermi level, it was found that the electronic structure was composed of a Cr 3d local state with the t(2g)3 configuration and a Ti 3d itinerant state. The energy levels of these Cr and Ti 3d states are well interpreted by the difference of th...

Electronic excitation of furfural as probed by high-resolution vacuum ultraviolet spectroscopy, electron energy loss spectroscopy, and ab initio calculations.

The electronic spectroscopy of isolated furfural (2-furaldehyde) in the gas phase has been investigated using high-resolution photoabsorption spectroscopy in the 3.5-10.8 eV energy-range, with absolute cross section measurements derived. Electron energy loss spectra are also measured over a range of kinematical conditions. Those energy loss spectra are used to derive differential cross sections...
